So... I've tried to stay out of the whole Coronavirus thing but it seems there's no getting away from it.

But rather than getting into things I have no authority on ... 

I thought it might be helpful to share something with you which is going to help you to not only calm your mind, relax your body but also release any trapped latent thoughts and feelings you have about everything that's going on.

After all, it's only when we let go of the fear can we ever be free.

Also, when we're trapped in the fear response we are unfortunately suppressing our immune response.

Right now, there is no cure for the virus and the only thing that is stopping you from becoming very poorly if you do catch it is your own bodies ability to fight.

The calmer you are, the more relaxed you are and the more you are able to be fear-free - the better equipped your body is to fight off the virus and keep you healthy.

If you've never done Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or 'tapping' before, don't worry as it's really simple to do.

Just know that everyone feels like a bit of a douchebag the first time you do it.

I promise it's super powerful and well worth the funny looks from your partner, kids or dog.

I'm going to slowly walk you through the process so you understand what is coming up, then we'll do the 5-Minute Fear Fix together.

EFT The Basics:

EFT works on the same principles as acupuncture, but without needing any needles and without needing you to locate quite so many points.

Basic EFT which is powerful enough to combat roughly 80% of difficulties with your emotional and physical health, utilises 9 different tapping points.

The first is the karate chop point, which is on the side of your hand. 

The second is down the midline on the top of your head.

The third is on the inner eyebrow point.

The fourth is on the outer eyebrow point. Make sure you're tapping the bone, not the temple.

The fifth is under the eye.

The sixth is under the nose.

The seventh is on your chin.

The eighth is on your collar bone.

The ninth and the most embarrassing of the lot is under your arm where your bra-strap would be if you're a woman. If you're a guy, you can trace around from your nipple and find the right spot.

You can tap with one hand, or two.

I tend to use two because I find it easier.

You can also set-up on either hand.

As long as you're tapping while your talking you'll be doing everything you need to feel relief from what you're currently going through.

We're going to do two rounds of tapping, one to release the fear and the other to help you balance your emotions.

Before we get started I'd like you just to take a moment to tune in to how you're feeling and how strong this current level of fear is.

Take a deep breath and think of the Coronavirus.

Rate the strength of your fear on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being no emotional attachment at all and 10 being along the lines of 'holy-moly' even just the name is triggering a complete emotional break-down.

Okay, now get ready with your karate chop point, we're going to say three phrases on this point then move to the top of the head and say another phrase, then to the eyebrows and another phrase and so on and so on.

Simply repeat after me.

Even though I'm terrified that I'll catch the Coronavirus I honour and accept how I feel about everything that is going on.

Even though I'm truly terrified about my bodies ability to fight off the Coronavirus I honour and accept how I feel.

Even though the thought of someone with Coronavirus being near me brings me to a place of sheer panic, I honour and accept how I feel.

I am so fricking scared that I'll get this thing...

Like, my body is already struggling to cope...

How the hell will my body fight off this thing which scientists can't find a cure for?

As if I'm strong enough to recover...

People are dying...

Like literally, people are dying in the streets...

There's no cure...

Of course I'll get it...

I get everything...

My body is so weak already...

I'm bound to be one of the 3% who don't make it...

I've probably already got it...

It's been flying around undetected for months...

That person the other day coughed near me...

I've probably already got it...

OMG what if I have already got it...

What if I'm the one infecting everyone else?

My poor family...

I don't think I could cope if I was one of those super spreader people...

I don't know what's worse, me getting it or me spreading it...

OMG it's so scary right now...

What if I run out of food?

What if I run out of soap?

OMG what if I run out of everything?

Maybe I should go to the shops?

Maybe I should be stockpiling too?

I've seen all the images with empty shelves everywhere...

I don't think I can cope...

I don't know how to cope...

I'm just so scared right now and I don't know what to do...

Ok, take a deep breath and just tune back into how you feel about the Coronavirus now.

Hopefully, you've come down a touch.

You'll want to aim to be less than a 4 on the scale before continuing with this next part.

If you haven't gone below 4, you can either do the previous bit again or more powerfully, use your own words and your own fears. 

Just keep tapping around and around and checking in to see how you're feeling.

Once you're below a 4 we're going to start again, this time helping our body and mind adjust to a new way of thinking.

We'll start with the karate chop point three times then through the other points one at a time.

Okay, ready?

Even though I have a legitimate fear about catching the coronavirus I honour my body's ability to heal.

Even though I have a legitimate fear about being infected with the coronavirus I am grateful for my bodies natural ability to heal.

Even though I have a legitimate fear about having the coronavirus I am thankful to my body and its powerful, natural healing ability.

I always forget how powerful my body truly is...

Even the simplest healing ability I take for granted...

Like how quickly I heal from a paper-cut...

Or how my bones knit together on their own after they've been broken...

Or even how my liver can regrow itself if it becomes damaged...

I am so grateful for the amazing power of my bodies healing ability...

I am so thankful for the power my body has to heal...

I am truly grateful for all my cells and how hard they work to heal me anytime I'm sick...

I am deeply thankful for my cells ability to quickly fight infections...

I am so grateful for the almost magical power of my natural immune system...

I always forget how hard it works for me every day and today, I'd like to honour all it's hard work...

I am deeply grateful to my body for being so awesome...

I am thankful for all the hard work the scientists and medical professionals are doing to find a cure...

I am grateful for all the success stories because they give me hope that if I catch it I too can be okay...

I am thankful for those who are working tirelessly to help us all heal...

I am grateful to all the doctors, nurses and medical professionals who will help me if I need them too...

I am doing all the things I need to stay safe and protected...

I am working hard to look after myself and my family...

I am making decisions out of kindness, compassion and love...

And once again take a deep breath.

Let all those words wash over you and sink in.

Anytime you are feeling worried, frightened or apprehensive about something which is out of your control use this method to first honour and accept all the negative feelings which are coming up for you.

Once you've released the negativity, take the time to embed a calmer, more relaxed and open future.
