As long as you squeeze them into your schedule at some point, it's all gravy.
What's the obsession with daily rituals all of a sudden?
When you become successful you're able to look at all the times when life sucked and there tends to be one common thread.
The times that sucked were also the times when you'd get up, drag yourself out of bed, mill around a bit, maybe do some chores and then possibly fiddle around on social media before becoming depressed over the lack of cash flowing into the bank.
On the flip side, you can also see that on the days when things were awesome you were up, out of bed, washed, dressed, focused and packed full of energy.
But no one wakes up full of beans every day
We can't leave it to chance.
You have got to create the right environment for your brain to get focused.
You have got to get your body in the zone so that it can be pumped up (without a litre of coffee).
& just in case you wondered, you also have got to get out of bed.
What the science says
Our brains and bodies crave routine.
It loves to know what we're going to do and when so that it can be prepared.
Have you ever eaten at the same time every day consistently?
Did you notice that in the beginning you might of had to remind yourself to make your breakfast, lunch or dinner but then after a few weeks you started to get hungry about 20-30 minutes before it was time to eat?
Your body was in the zone.
Your digestive system had hit the auto-pilot sweet spot.
Now, when it comes to the workings of the mind, it's honestly pretty similar.
If our days are completely erratic then your brain will struggle to function.
Chances are it will be telling you to do things at the most inappropriate time (whilst on the loo, listening to your partner or just before you head to sleep).
You'll be super forgetful and even be doing some very odd things (last time I fell off the daily routine wagon I tried to put the kettle away in the fridge...).
But, when your brain knows there are things it needs to do every day it starts to relax.
It feels a little calmer because it is able to have some control over what's going on.
& you'll find that after 6 weeks of doing your daily ritual you'll be able to cope with things that used to completely derail you.
OMG, I have to wait 6 weeks?
Yeah, I know, life sucks.
But, we're not healing a paper cut here, we're rewiring your brain & this takes time.
Don't fret though because most people see improvements after just 7 days.
You've just gotta keep going.
Plus, I know you're life is already hectic, so trust me, you'll easily be able to squeeze these in.
